The multiple lock downs of 2020 and 2021 here in South Africa have deepened the poverty in the townships, which includes Avian Park. My Father's House has been helping four soup kitchens in the community, through the kind donations from European friends and those through HADA. We kindly invite others to come alongside and help.
During the initial lock down in April 2020, we also made arrangements with local farmers for food packages, and many in the wider Worcester community donated winter clothes and for new mothers, baby clothes. Some of our volunteer leaders were cleared to hand out packages. As the lock downs progressed, it was no longer feasible to hand out individual packages, so we instead supported four soup kitchens.
We also encourage and contribute towards the Avian Park Community Association Umbrella Group, which shares some of the land where My Father's House will be located (once we have adequate funds and the town's official permission to build). Here are some of the pictures of our ongoing covid-19 poverty relief story.
